The Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, state-approved public charter school, adheres to the same guidelines and provides the same annual data at the state level as traditional brick-and-mortar schools, yet its school model is distinctly different by design.
VLACS serves students in grades K-12 worldwide, and all VLACS administrators, instructors, and advisors are NH-certified and meet the state’s highly qualified standards.
The school provides a flexible learning environment, enabling students to choose when, where, and how they learn based on their individual needs, interests, and talents. Many VLACS students, including musicians, artists, actors, and professional athletes, benefit from this flexibility, which accommodates their busy schedules and allows them to take fewer classes when seeking greater balance.
Rather than solely encouraging college attendance, VLACS offers students opportunities through career-based learning experiences. The school has established partnerships with hundreds of professionals and numerous businesses and organizations in New Hampshire and surrounding states. Students can connect with professionals to explore careers and career pathways, participate in virtual or in-person job shadows, engage in micro-internships, or select from over 100 career-related course offerings. This structure allows students to explore diverse career options or focus on specific career paths. Full-time VLACS students have pursued entrepreneurial ventures, enrolled in trade schools, enlisted in various military branches, and gained acceptance to over 150 colleges and universities worldwide.
