Croydon Village School, or “Little Red” as its called locally, was built in 1835 and is one of the nation’s only continuously operating one-room schoolhouses. During the summer of 2026, the building will undergo extensive renovations in order to maintain its historic charm and modern amenities tuned for the latest standards in early childhood education.

Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to support children’s sense of wonder and comfort. This type of environment helps develop confident, and curious learners.

We believe the environment plays a vital role in learning, so each space is intentionally designed to guide children’s choices and encourage independence. Clear pathways and inviting learning areas support safe movement and focused engagement, while allowing teachers to remain attentive and responsive to teachable moments that are evident in the children’s play and interactions. Every effort is made to minimize clutter and overstimulating materials, while selecting simple, open-ended resources that inspire creativity and reflect children’s interests. Through this intentional design, we support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and academic growth.
