How to Add a School

Adding a school to our school choice program is a relatively straight-forward process, but it requires some time, so we ask that you inform the administration a year before you intend to enroll.

Please read this entire page before starting the process so that you have an understanding as to what will be required.

Step 1: Verify it’s Not Already Approved

Before asking the School District to add a new school to the school choice program, please make sure it’s not already on our list. You can do so by clicking here and reviewing the list.

Step 2: Notify Our Administration

Send an email to the Senior Education Officer via the contact us form. Please do not submit a request unless you are serious about adding the school to our program. It takes time and effort to complete the process.

Step 3: Wait for Review

The Senior Education Officer will review the school to make sure it satisfies New Hampshire standards. If it’s a public school, the review will have already been conducted by the state. Similarly, if it’s on the NH Department of Education’s list of Non-Public Schools Approved for Attendance, no review is necessary.

If it is a private school and not already on the list of Non-Public Schools Approved for Attendance, you should encourage the school to apply for inclusion, as this makes approval of the school significantly easier. Details about this can be found by clicking here. If the school is not on the list, the School Board must render a final decision based on RSA 193:3 and RSA 193-E:2.

Step 4: Complete Enrollment

Once the school is approved by the District, you may complete enrollment through our normal enrollment procedure. For details on the enrollment process, or to start your application, please click here.

As part of the enrollment process, the Senior Education Officer will establish a contract with the new partner school, stipulating that the parent will be responsible for any charges over-and-above the District’s tuition cap.
